Megan Stripe!  Back when we first were in the process of moving I put a bunch of paint swatches on the wall, took this picture, posted it to Facebook and asked everyone which swatches they thought that we were going to go with.  Only one person guessed both the room color and the feature wall color and that was Megan.

The color that the house flippers painted the entire house was a somewhat dark beige/tan color.  I didn't mind it but Will hates when every wall is the same color.  So we started thinking about other options.  In our living room, even though we have two windows that go from the floor to ceiling, we don't get much natural light because its facing North and our front porch shades the windows.  So its a pretty dark room and the deep tan color wasn't doing it any favors.  It was also a very brown room (brown walls, brown carpet, brown fireplace, and brown sectional) which neutrals are great but I'm not a fan of that much brown.  So I wanted a lighter greige (that color where gray meets beige) color on the wall to brighten the place up a little and make it a little less brown.  I know two people who used Sherwin Williams "perfect greige" on their walls and I loved the color.  However because the lighting is so poor in our living room, it looked peach instead of greige. I'm so glad I tried a sample first instead of just painting it on.  And the darker color on that same strip looked browner than the flippers tan.  It was terrible. (Again, so glad we bought samples first...ALWAYS buy samples) So we ended up going with a pure gray and in our house, whether its the poor lighting or all of the rest of the brown in the room, it looks like the greige that I wanted.  It looks like a mild beige during the day and a warm gray at night.

Don't mind our mess :)  At this point we hadn't unpacked much of our living room because we wanted to finish painting before getting too settled (or else we might not ever get around to painting)  Since my camera is not unpacked, I apologize for all of the low quality camera phone pics.  Because of the sun glare on the right, our new gray color looks just as dark as the original tan but its much lighter and brighter!

Compare that to the original real estate photo that we saved...look at all that brown! :)

The room is also a lot brighter now and feels bigger.  I'm a fan!  And Will's a fan that not everything is the same color :)
