The Sanders' are planting a church up in Boston next year and wanted an updated family photo for their support raising book. I was excited to take their pictures because they are such a cute family! Hope you enjoy their pictures!
So I know its been over half a year since I have posted anything related to photography. Its not that I'm not still interested in it or that I don't enjoy it still, but since we have moved it did not seem worthwhile to pursue for a few reasons. There are tons of photographers in this area...seriously, the few people that we have gotten to know in ATL all seem to know at least 3 photographers. Another reason is that I originally wanted to pursue finding a job as opposed to building a customer base here. I also was starting to get tired of the nights and weekends it was requiring and needed a break from it. But I do still enjoy photography which is why I took the Sanders' family portraits! The Sanders' are planting a church up in Boston next year and wanted an updated family photo for their support raising book. I was excited to take their pictures because they are such a cute family! Hope you enjoy their pictures! and because no family portraits with small children are without a meltdown or two I thought I would include my favorite outtake because its just too funny...real life behind a photoshoot

I knew it had been awhile, but I did not realize that this is my first post of the new year. Shame on me. First of all, Happy Easter! On Good Friday, Will and I went to Secret Church to listen to David Platt. This year, the topic was heaven, hell and the end times and as usual, it was so encouraging in my walk with the Lord. If you have never heard of secret church, David Platt is a very gifted teacher who can can teach a ton (literally flood you with information)and still make it easy enough to understand and retain all while keeping every topic Christ centered (which is why it is always such an encouragement to me instead of being overwhelming). I think this year, because of the topic I was just reminded and filled with gratitude over Christ's finished work at the cross of salvation. I highly recommend listening to any of the secret churches which can be found at http://www.radical.net/media/schurch/?cur_tab=series.
At this point, Will and I have mostly settled on a church we have been visiting for a few months now called New Branch. While it is still new to us, I'm so thankful that we have been there long enough that we now know several names to put with faces and we are mostly past introducing ourselves to people. It made celebrating our risen Savior that much sweeter that we were with people who not long ago were strangers, but are starting to become a church family to us. We also had the pleasure of spending the day with Will's cousin, Jenna, who just moved to another part of Atlanta, which means that we now have family in Georgia! As far as other updates, Will is still enjoying his job and his job is still treating us well. Like I mentioned, we are mostly settled on New Branch and we have been visiting their small groups, trying to find a good fit for us. I have finished all major projects in the living room (more on that later). I have also started our own container garden despite my brown thumb so hopefully this summer, we might have some of our own produce (more on that later). Now I am in the midst of job searching. While it can be encouraging that Atlanta has a lot more jobs for graphic designers than Clemson did, its also a little discouraging that I haven't heard back from a single job that I've applied to. I rest in the fact that God will place me where He wants me. That's all for now! If I need a break from job searching tomorrow I'll post about all of the living room projects that I've done! So if you are familiar with my work, you probably know that I like bright, cheery and colorful photographs, and that I rarely post the black and white versions that I edit, but something about Christmas makes me love black and white photos. If you want to see some of the colored versions, I will be including them on facebook, just click the link at the top of my website.
This was a fun photoshoot, despite the cold front that came in causing Andrew to be less than his normal smiley self because I have known the Dentons for such a long time. Tara was one of the first people I met when I started coming to Crosspoint. We have done missions together through SummerLink and she has discipled me for over two years. I met Matt through serving to Media which he handed off to me when I joined G-Link. He was always the serious, thoughful one so I about died laughing several times seeing how goofy and silly he is with his son...I seriously could have done a post on just the funny faces that I caught during the photosession. Its been fun watching them date, get married and have a baby within the last few years. Because of moving and then having no internet for a month, I'm a little behind on posting some of the photography that I have done...to say the least. This session was of Jeff and Bonnie and their 9 month old Paige who was happy as could be to be outside and to be the center of attention. They are such a cute family and you can tell that little Paige is at such a fun age! I really enjoyed taking their pictures. I wanted to announce that even though I will not be putting more resources into advertising in Clemson anymore since we have moved, I will still come back if you want to book me...just let me know!
Stay posted because I have more photo sessions coming tomorrow! This past week Will and I went out to California to visit my parents. I hadn't been to Northern CA before and Will got to go even further west then he had ever been. It was fun getting to see my parents new house and where they work. Mom and dad had the week off so we got to visit a lot of interesting places with them. First place we visited was Muir Woods which is where you can find huge redwood trees...thankfully there were no apes :) In case you can't read the numbers, this tree was planted in 909ad and fell in 1930...its kind of crazy how old these trees are We also got to visit San Francisco. We had dinner at the cheesecake factory and I tried the Ghirardelli cheesecake and it was fantastic. We made our way down to pier 39 and saw Alcatraz and all the touristy stuff down there We also went to Yosemite national park. Will and I hiked from the tip of glacier point all the way down to the valley. My legs were killing me for the rest of the trip but the views were beautiful...except for that last mile of the hike that wouldn't end. We also visited the winchester mansion. Sadly we couldn't take pictures inside the house because its quirky. There is a door that if you walk through it, you will fall a story down to the porch, there is a staircase that goes straight up to the ceiling and many other strange things because the woman who built the house was afraid that whenever she stopped building on the house that she would die. That was the majority of our trip. I'm glad we had the chance to visit my family and spent time with them.
So excited spring is here because that means fun bright colors...perfect for a family photo shoot for an Easter card! This was my first shoot with 2 kids in this age group, so needless to say it was a little crazy but so much fun. The Kaldenbachs are our CP group leaders and there kids are our groups weekly source of entertainment. I'm so thankful to have gotten to know this sweet family a little more over the past year and I enjoyed taking their family photos! This was my first maternity shoot (and first shoot with a dog, what an adventure!) and it was a lot of fun! I'm not really into the nude maternity stuff so you don't have to worry about guarding your eyes as you would searching for maternity photos on google (people are doing some weird stuff out there). Their little one is due in February and the name is a secret so you will have to wait until February to see the pictures with the name in it...but here are the others! The Hancocks are a sweet family from my Bible Study group. I've known them for a few years now so I have gotten to see them date, get married, and have a baby. Baby Henry is hilarious. He gives these looks to you as if he is smarter than you and he is a sweet happy little baby so this photoshoot was fun. Check out more of the Hancocks at: http://suzedesign.weebly.com/friends-and-families.html
